Kellom Tomlinson's treatise, The Art of Dancing, includes plates showing notations and tunes for fourteen short movement sequences. Some of them seem clearly intended as exercises for the study of a particular category of step; others offer a variety of steps, including some from the theatrical dance vocabulary.
These workshops will be devoted to studying and learning as many of these sequences as possible. Some of them do require a degree of technical ability, but anyone with an interest in the material is welcome. The October and November sessions will complement one another; students may register for either month, or for both.
Material presented in each Saturday session will be repeated on the following Tuesday; please register for either the Saturday or the Tuesday session.
