Beginner Contemporary Jazz
This class focuses on proper alignment, building strength and learning classic jazz style and movement. The warm-up is focused on the Simonson Technique, an anatomically aware, organic approach to movement. Class includes a thorough warm-up, progressions across the floor and a combination set to a variety of music styles.

Intermediate Contemporary Jazz
This class is based on the Simonson Technique, an anatomically aware, organic approach to movement. Class begins with a thorough warm-up and includes progressions across the floor and a combination set to a variety of music styles. Class is designed for intermediate and advanced-level dancers.

Pop-up Jazz for ages 13-21
A 5-week series for teens and young adults (ages 13-21) interested in developing their jazz dance technique, improving their movement quality and musicality, honing their performance skills, and finding their own unique style – all in a supportive, encouraging, and fun environment! This is a dynamic, high energy advanced beginner/intermediate class that fuses classical, lyrical, and contemporary jazz styles.
Days and Time: Mondays from 7 to 8:30 pm from October 21 to November 18, 2019.
Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate
Price: Drop in $18; enrollment in the entire series is encouraged and available at a discounted price of $80. (Note : Ballet / jazz 10 class card will not be valid for drop in. Students could use the 10 class card for the full series if they have 5 classes left. Classes will be crossed off all at once on the first day.)
Prior experience in ballet, modern, contemporary, and/or jazz is required.
This class is taught by Madina Agénor. Madina has over 25 years of experience dancing and performing classical, lyrical, and contemporary jazz; she has also studied modern, ballet, hip hop, and West African dance. Madina has trained at Joy of Motion Dance Center (Washington, DC), Brown University (Providence, RI), Steps on Broadway (New York, NY), Broadway Dance Center (New York, NY), Green Street Dance Studios (Cambridge, MA), and Jeannette Neill Dance Studio (Boston, MA). She has performed with and choreographed for Wellesley College Dancers, Wellesley College FreeStyle, Brown University’s Fusion Dance Company, New York City-based A.H. Dance Company, Boston-based Tribe: The Dance Company, and Cambridge Dance Company. Madina credits master jazz teachers Lauren Fine, Helen Hayes, Sheila Barker, Joyce King, Sue Casey Murray, and Jeannette Neill with helping her develop into the jazz dancer and teacher she is today. When she is not dancing, Madina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health at Tufts University.
Beginner Jazz Workshop
Designed for those with little to no dance training, this 6-week workshop introduces students to jazz dance using the Simonson Technique, an organic approach to movement focused on injury prevention and lifelong dancing. Students will learn basic dance vocabulary and movement through a series of exercises designed to develop strength and get you moving! A thorough warm-up is followed by brief exercises across the floor and a combination set to a variety of music styles. Experienced dancers who are new to jazz, as well as those looking for a slow-moving refresher course, are also welcome. Taught by Victoria Kickham.
